More Below Stairs Mysteries, plus Other Things Coming Up

Now that Murder in Blackfriars is out, I can announce and link to more Kat Holloway!

First, the Audio Book of A Moveable Feast is at last out and available, narrated by Anne-Marie Piazza. It has posted to my web store, Audible, Kobo, Google, Nook, Chirp, Audiobooks.com, and other places (including libraries).

Next, The Ghost and Mrs. Holloway, a brand new Below Stairs novella, will release October 13. You can pre-order on all retailers, including on my web store, where it will early release. Paperbacks can be pre-ordered from my store, and will be available at Amazon and B&N (and other booksellers) upon release.

This story follows close upon the heels of the action in Murder in Blackfriars, a few weeks after the closing scenes of that book. (Warning: There will be spoilers for Murder in Blackfriars in The Ghost and Mrs. Holloway!)

I will work on getting an audio edition of this novella as well.

As I mentioned before, I have come to the end of my contract with Berkley. This does not mean Below Stairs is going away! I will write book 10, continuing Kat’s adventures. There are many threads in her world to explore plus the ongoing character arcs.

Not having a contract, to be honest, is a relief. I feel a lot of pressure under contract, and right now in my personal life, I have a lot of things going on, and having to write a book for a publisher on top of that would pretty much crush me. In the past, I’ve made myself ill and miserable desperately trying to hit deadlines and being hard on myself when I miss them. Plus, having to put aside other books to write to contract is frustrating.

I find that when I set my own deadlines, it’s so much less stress, and I’m much more likely to make them. Also I can be flexible and shift things up if I need to.

That said, I will never say never to a new book contract, be it at Berkley or another publisher. It will depend on the offer, the timing, and other factors.

I want to reassure all Kat Holloway fans that Book 10 will exist. Whether I publish it myself or a publisher does is immaterial–it will be written and out in the next year or so. I’ve even added it to my Coming Soon page. I’ve seen a few reviews of Murder in Blackfriars speculating that it’s the end of the series. It is not!

Before I write more mysteries, I’m returning to romances to finish up the Riding Hard series, continue Shifters Unbound, and continue with the Mackenzies, (which is long overdue).

More about the Riding Hard series in an upcoming post. Riding Hard was my first foray into contemporary romance, and I learned a lot! I am closing out the series, because everyone has pretty much been paired off, and if I do more contemporary romance, I want to start fresh.

My heart, as you probably guessed, lies in historical stories and also paranormal / fantasy. Sometimes both at the same time. It is where I will stay, though I might venture into new territory once in a while.

As always, thank you if you’ve read this far! Please check out my Coming Soon pages on both my websites for what I’m working on.
