Leonidas swears he sees his deceased friend Xerxes strolling about the Forum one rainy morning, and wonders if he’s a ghost. Cassia, more practical, offers different solutions, and soon they are investigating not only the new apparition but the circumstances surrounding the death of Xerxes himself.

What is next for Leonidas and Cassia?

The series is now in the year AD 64, which contained the life-changing event of the Great Fire and what followed. This fire was the beginning of the end for Nero, whose actions afterward ranged from benevolent (really) to horrific.

Leonidas and Cassia will be in the thick of things, still solving mysteries, including that of their own situation, while Rome changes around them.

The next book will be Unquenchable Fire, out probably sometime next year.

Great Audio Book News!

Hillary Huber has already started recording Brother at Arms for Audio. She is thinking it will be finished and edited sometime this fall (Oct / Nov). I will keep everyone posted on when that is done and out.

Anne-Marie Piazza has agreed to narrate The Ghost and Mrs. Holloway. (Yay!) She is, as I’ve indicated, a very busy person, touring with a stage play, but she will carve out time late this fall to narrate the novella. (I hope to keep her for the rest of the series as well.)

That’s it for news this weekend. I’ll be talking more about Below Stairs and also the upcoming Riding Hard finale (and other books to watch for) in future posts.
